Seeing Communities Transformed, Both Spiritually and Physically, Starting with Our Own

Types of Outreach

Pace Outreach

A good pace is consistent and rhythmic, it regulates steady progression. This form of Outreach happens frequently (bi-weekly) so that our presence in the community is consistent, our understanding of the community’s needs are relevant, and our ability to develop relationships increase. Pace Outreaches take place on Saturday’s from 10:45 am until 12:15 pm. An example of a Pace Outreach includes:

Home And Yard Restoration

There are families in our community who have no glass panes in their windows, leaking pipes in their kitchens and family room, foliage overwhelming their property. They greatly desire change but do not have the means and/or ability to make any improvements. Our church gathers to shovel an elderly woman’s driveway, help a single mother of four cut her grass, or perform minor repairs that make the world of difference.

Momentum Outreach

Momentum is strength gained through the development of events. Our Momentum Outreaches target our entire community, harnessing the development of relationships that were built through our Pace Outreaches and other networks of community engagement. Momentums take the effort of our committed body and faithful partners to create a healthy environment for the Lord to bring forth heart change. Examples of Momentum Outreaches are:

  • Back To School Backpack Celebration

Every school year children in our community return to school without the basic academic essentials: a backpack and school supplies. We unite with our partners to equip Detroit’s brightest with tools that aid their academic success. At this event the parents hear a clear articulation of the gospel and our desire for them to grow in Christ within our church family. The youth play games and have a last hurrah before school starts.

  • Thanksgiving

Many families in our community are forced to make a choice between purchasing food for a Thanksgiving meal and paying the gas or electric bill. Many choose the later and so our desire is to provide them with a meal that allows them to celebrate the holiday in their home. We provide a Thanksgiving meal, called a Box of Love, which has a frozen turkey, side dishes, and a dessert. Our desire is to care for them physically with the Box of Love and spiritually by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. You can help by joining with us as we take the gospel to homes in our community. You may also support this gospel centered initiative by donating food or finances so that we may care for many families this Thanksgiving. Please contact Pastor Leon Stevenson if you have any questions.

  • Harvest Party

Our desire is to provide families with a safe and fun gospel centered alternative to the dark Halloween activities present in our community. We provide families with activities such as arts and crafts, games, and face painting to name a few. Our desire is for this event to be launching pad for families to find their purpose in Jesus Christ and mature in the midst of community. If you would like to help make this day a success by volunteering or providing resources such as games, snacks, or finances or have any questions, please contact Pastor Leon Stevenson.

  • 3 on 3

Our target for this event is the men of Detroit. We seek to give men an opportunity to experience joy in athletics and competition while be challenged with the gospel. We coordinate a tournament that gives athletes a chance to play in a fun environment and the community a chance to celebrate as spectators. After the first round of play the gospel is shared with all in attendance. If you would like to help make this day a success by volunteering or providing resources such as equipment, snacks, or finances or if you have any questions please contact Pastor Leon Stevenson.

  • Fair Day

Many in our community don’t get a chance to experience carnivals or fairs so we decided to bring the experience to them. We seek to bless families by providing an environment where Christ is glorified while families delight in playing games. From obstacle courses, to cake walk, to water balloon toss, we hope to bring joy to people through this experience. Our desire is for this event to be a launching pad for families to find their purpose in Jesus Christ and mature in the midst of community. If you would like to help make this day a success by volunteering or providing resources such as games, snacks, or finances or if you have any questions please contact Pastor Leon Stevenson.

  • Christmas

Our community if filled with diners and fast food restaurants. We desire to give families an elegant dinner experience as we reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ. We aim to serve community members a quality meal from humble servants. We desire for families to be cared for well while being challenged by the love of the church and proclamation of the good news to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ. If you would like to help make this day a success by preparing food, volunteering as a server (no experience needed), or contributing financially please contact Pastor Leon Stevenson.

Please pray for our Outreach efforts.
