History & Vision of MACC
Mack Avenue Community Church exists to bring honor and attention to God by the power of the Spirit. Our vision is to see communities transformed both spiritually and physically starting with our own.
Since 2007, we have been committed to the 48214 zip code of Detroit. From holding church meetings in our pastor’s home to our current Sunday Services held in a local school, by God’s grace, we have seen our ministry grow in a variety of ways. Over the past few years, we have begun to pray for a space to call our own…
Our Investment in the 48214
As we have held discipleship as the heartbeat of our ministry, by God’s grace we have seen small, individual expressions of care and proclamations of the gospel lead to great transformation in our community for the glory of God. As we have become stakeholders in our neighborhood over time, we have seen the kingdom of God at work in the 48214.
As the parable of the mustard seed explains the kingdom of God to be like a mustard seed, which is very small, but when planted, it grows into a large tree. While our church body has been serving in our community over the past eight years, we have seen how these individual manifestations of discipleship have grown into a large impact in our community.
Praise the Lord!
Our Vision for the Mack and Harding Building
Over the past 8 years, we have held our church gatherings and services in a variety of spaces, most recently renting out a local school on Sunday mornings for our weekly celebration service. We have been blessed to be able to use this space for several years now but we have been praying for a building to purchase for use on Sunday mornings. Our current Sunday Service location is tucked away in a neighborhood which prevents it from being seen in the community. Furthermore, the additional work and challenges that renting includes made owning a church building a part of our vision for 2015 and beyond.
We desire to have a church building that
can be a visible presence in our community.
A place where activities are held throughout the week, from youth group to Bible studies to Sunday Service to meetings with pastors throughout the week. Recently, a church building in our neighborhood was placed on the market that would meet these desires. We are prayerfully considering the purchase of this building as we desire to bring God glory through our work in the 48214 neighborhood.
